Roscoes with sapwood fingerboards

My lust for a Roscoe worsens every time I see one (which is every day I log on TB ). Recently, I have been noticing many of these fine instruments having ebony with sapwood fingerboards. They look amazing, however, I was wondering how stable is the wood. Doesn't sapwood have a higher moisture content? If so, won't shrinkage eventually become an issue? Would using sapwood decrease the necks stability as in frequent truss rod adjustments? Thanks for your input.

bobunit -

Hey, no, we let our fingerboards dry until they're of uniform moisture content before we use them on a bass. We haven't had any issues with fingerboards causing twists or being less stable than non-sapwood fingerboard basses.

Gard, thank you for answering my questions. I assumed as much, but wanted to hear it from someone in the know.

Gard has spoken!

As a side note, I've owned 3 Roscoe's with various sapwood fingerboards and never had any problems. They had very stable necks.

....and before anyone makes a wise comment, I actually owned those basses several years!
