| | | Satin finish polishing up and cracking... Got my Century Std 5 a little while a go (maybe a month, or 6 weeks)
Now the beautiful satin finish is starting to polish up where my plucking arms forearm rests against the top of the body above the bridge pup.
I wouldnt mind, but the finish is kind of wearing away and where the grain of the wood is becoming slightly exposed it is becoming rough, uneven, stippled, and even a little sharp.
What gives, and how should I go about restoring it to its original beauty?
BTW I never wear anything that would unduly rub this area, normal its my bare forearm against this part of the bass.

The glossy thing happens with enough playing time on ANY satin finish - it's a part of a satin finish.
The other issues Simon is fighting are NOT right, and we are going to be addressing his situation right away. This is not something we've had happen before with this finish, and it shouldn't have happened with this one. It definitely shouldn't wear off, I've got the same type of finish on my fretted bass, and I've been gigging it hard for over 2 years. Other than the spots where it gets glossy from my arm rubbing it, it's held up perfectly, and all of these should do the same.

| | | | Absolutely.
Gard has been in contact with Mark at bassdirect (Poptart on this forum), and between them they are lining up a solution that will be as painless as possible for all involved.
Pretty impressively fast turnaround on a plan of action so far.
I really do like companies that take customer's worries or issues as a chance to show off how well they can support that customer with after sales service; rather than assuming the customer either doesn't know what they are talking about or is just trying to get something over on them.
I did apologise to Gard for posting first rather than PM'ing him, since it could be seen as trying to get some leverage. I wasn't doing that - I just forgot all about PM'ing at all (worrying about my lovely bass!).
In any event I'd like it publicly known that the response from him has been lightening fast, very courteous, extremely positive and helpful throughout.
Thanks again!

Thanks again! | ...no thanks needed, Mark & I are just making sure a customer is happy with the product. Both of us (and this would also include all the other dealers) are all about service, and that doesn't stop once we get your money.
Also, no apologies necessary for the posting about this, we're certainly not interested in hiding anything here! If something isn't right, we want to make it right, end of story.

But, If you we're in the neighborhood I'd treat you to a very good all you can eat for $25.00 a person, eat till you pass out, Sushi bar just down the street from my house. Top Quality at an unbelievable price.
As weird as it may seem there are more quality sushi bars within a quarter mile radius of mi casa than there are Liquer stores. |

(I'm sorry, it's a disease! )
....by the way, I HATE you....
I'd much rather spend $25 on sushi than booze...of course, I'd REALLY much rather spend the $25 on sushi, and have another $25 ready for a few Sapporos!
