So, like, isn't 2 or 3 chords the whole song?

Yikes!!!! I almost forgot one of the ingredients needed for an outstanding lesson... Lets see now.. Basses? check. Tequila? check. Now what was that missing item eh??? Wait for it, wait..... A HA!!! Church's Fried Chicken & Jalapenos!! Gotta make sure there's enough chicken grease on the fingers for all that drunken fretting about to take place learning the most complicated of all songs for bass...

I sure wish that you could find a way to cross the big pond and make it to Georgia 2 weeks from today! We'd sure love to have you at the GTG.

I'd bet Bill got a "head start" with the Tequila to figure that one out.

I Wish all the Roscoeheads could be at Joes' GTG. Although I might have to wear waders then

God Bless, Ray

Shipping Truths - or lack, there f!

Brothers, AH FEEL YO PAIN! I do a lot of Ebay business. I had to, finally, completely nix Fed-Ex for the very same reasons my bass brother in GA did. I caught one of the delivery boys tossing a nice Tapco mixer casually onto my front porch when he did not think I was home. I came out and asked him what the @##$%^ he was doing and did he just throw my new mixer across ny porch? He had the termerity get mad at me and stalk off. Needless to say, I had kind words with the Fed-Ex managment the next day. UPS is slightly better, at least thay don't football my stuff to my door. Actually, USPS has had a decent record with me. But after reading this blog, I may change my mind. Fer sure, I'm going to be watching them in the future and definately not shipping any of my instruments through them.
Best sounding bass I have had to date was a 2002 SKB3006 with EMGS in it. Blessing to you folks!

I've had two shipping experiences with USPS and both were bad. The first was a MarkBass head that arrived soaking wet. Not damp, but drenched. The box was falling apart it was so wet. The receptionist at our office didn't notice, because they just put it on the floor in front of her desk and got out.. The second item arrived in one piece, but it took 10 days to make a 3 day trip. And yes their tracking system is HORRIBLE. UPS and FedEx have both been good to me. UPS damaged a bass I shipped once, and took care of it completely. Actually the paid me the full amount it was insured for and I got to keep it. It wasn't destroyed, just had a large chunk of finish missing..

If you ship enough, something is bound to happen. With USPS, it seems to be the norm..

Interesting stories! Scary!

In all honesty I never had bad experiences with usps... (not yet!)

But again, we hear/experience all kind of s$$t about/with everyone, go figure!

Unfortunately, most of the time it's out of our hands...

Feel ya, Gard!

Mo, my biggest beef with USPS is that their tracking system isn't. It isn't ANYTHING - just a number that they give you to make you FEEL like they give a $4!7, when they obviously don't.

At least UPS's tracking is functional, and I've used it to avoid disasters several times.

All of them are a PITA when it comes to damage claims, but none of them can even approach the total apathy and indolence of the USPS....

Mo, the only way I ship USPS is if it is something of low value that is easily replaceable - like replacement trussrod wrenches, or pickups/preamps. A full instrument, never ever ever never ever never!

The guy in the original post is STILL trying to get the USPS to pay his claim.

I had a few things, and even some basses shipped with usps to germany and it all went right. Since they do not do the customs clearance like UPS does, I had to pick up the stuff at the customs by myself, but that is no major deal since you can sife quite some money. They seem to get the stuff on the plane without having constant problems.

Only bad thing is they insure only for a maximum of $500 on international shippments.

My longest adventure was with Canada Post. Someone there put the wrong country shortcut on the posting bag a bass was in, so it went to Great Brittan (GB) instead of Germany (GE).

Luckily and after hours of phonetalk with all the involved institutions, a nice young lady from dhl Germany found this out, we located the bass and I had it like 3 days later. It was undamaged.

I believe all of them have good and bad days...

Gard & Co, this was posted in the OT thread and being a snow day, I was goofing off today and saw it.

Very funny, especially to those of us who love to get rectangle boxes from the big brown truck every now and then.
