With the six-strings in particular, I need to get the bass up higher so I can wrap my left hand back up under the neck to get at the "B" string which, on a Roscoe, is where so many yummy notes are. I'd like to find a strap that was comfortable and that would get the bass up where I like it without the necessity of maiming the strap. I'm less concerned with price than with quality, if that helps. What do you guys use?

Second-in-line is the Sadowsky strap. This would be my favorite except for one serious shortcoming...the openings on each end are too large to hold Dunlop straplocks. Aside from that...which is unfortunately a showstopper for me...it's the most comfortable strap I've ever worn. |

Does make me wonder if Roscoe will consider putting their name on a strap? I'd be first in line to buy one. Right after my t-shirt and baseball cap. |

-whalepoop | You can't use a Smith strap with a Roscoe!
Smith straps, like Smith strings & Smith polish, are custom designed for Smith basses!
You just wait until Ken hears about this! Oh, and he will hear about it! |

And I'll still happily tell Ken he's full of crap. |

I would have one on my SKB-3005 too if it wasn't for the really expensive (and painful) Levy's strap my dad bought me for Christmas (he matched the colour of the bass to a strap).
The Sadowsky neo strp is AMAZING!

Maybe it is OK to use Smith accessories on other Brands but you just can't use other Brand accessories on Smith basses!
...I know that I've been told that a Smith bass doesn't live up to it's potential with other than Smith strings on it ..... P.S. At least Sarah Palin gave us some great moments to laugh about together! There's not much that the democrats are doing right now that makes me laugh or even smile! |

Despite all his fairweather tendencies, he is still pulling for the Cubbies to go all the way in 2009!

Not much to smile about in this "stimulus" plan for me either. It doesn't offer much to those of us who've worked hard, lived responsibly, and played by the rules. I might feel differently if I'd lost my income, I suppose. Unfortunately, at this juncture, I don't think we can risk doing nothing.
I hope they're saving the Bernie Madoffs of the world a special place in hell. Extra hot, right next to the furnace. I hope they make him wear a snowmobile suit and the zipper gets stuck right up tight under his chubby chin. (stepping down off soapbox)

I actually prefer MTD strings on the Roscoes, and now that supply is finally matching demand, I'll be switching back soon. For folks that like a bit of brightness and zing, I do recommend the Smiths, at least as a backup.
Good luck with the straps - I'm anxious to hear your thoughts. If the Sad/Fender/Whatever strap was designed to accept straplocks, I'd definitely have at least one. |

| I always found those to be a bit rough, but they do sound good. I'm still stickin' with my DR BB's.... Quote: |

| I haven't tried one of those yet, maybe I should...I do have a really nice Zon strap lying around...

I feel your pain. It's awesome that you're a Cubs fan, though - now we can say, "Just wait 'til next year!" together.
Zon straps are great. I have an F that is wonderful too - it was shortened to fit me by a friend who has one of those industrial sewing machine thingies that can handle thick leather.
Strings...I would like to try those BB's sometime. I've run FatBeams on my Sadowsky, and I really like them. |

My mom is from just outside of Pittsburgh (Mars Township), plus they're ALMOST black & gold like my favorite football team.
The Zon strap is good, but once I got used to the Comfort Strapp, everything else just went on the shelf.
The BB's are pretty killer, the thing I dig about 'em is that they last FOREVER. If you like how they sound when you put 'em on, you'll STILL like 'em a year later (at least for me)....
