Thanks. Now if I just had yours, my set would be closer to complete--that birdseye board kills. If I get to order one custom for myself someday, I really hope I can get a fretboard that looks somewhat close to that one.

"The Brain" is one of those basses that really has to be seen in person, though. I fell in love with it when it was on the Groove Shoppe's site for sale, but when I got it, my jaw about hit the floor. The work that must have gone into that top is amazing. There are several voids in the wood that are filled in with clear stuff (don't know what for sure) so that you can actually see down into the topwood in a few places. It really gives the top a 3D effect when seen in person. And it is done flawlessly. The Roscoe boys really hit the nail on the head when they built that one.

Just got this in from James at The Perfect Bass. TPB Limited Edition #6. Looks and feels great - haven't plugged it in yet. Will do so after I get home from work.

Thanks - you should see it in person - the ash that is. The grain and texture is outstanding.

It's a reference to emjazz's perpetual search for "The Perfect Preamp", something that will never end....

Egg,
There are volumes of posts on Roscoe owners trying out different preamps in their Roscoes - each yielding a different tonal palate. It all depends on what kind of vibe you want from your Roscoe.

It's like asking, "what do you put on your toast in the morning?" The multitude of answers creates endless discussion.

It's all good!

Wow, so you're the first Demeter/Roscoe dude, hm? Thanks!

Dunno 'bout that, we're going to do an install for a guy with one of those in about September, I may really dig it, so who knows.

I think I will have to get used to the pre-amp that is in it and all it can and can't do before I swap out parts. The vibe I am used to is more a vintage jazz bass sound - but that is not what I want to duplicate with the Roscoe. That's why I have my RV5. I want something different out of the Roscoe. Considering I have had the bass for less that 24 hours - I have plenty of experimentation time ahead!!

I am very impressed with the construction of this bass - which I am sure is true for everything Keith makes. Solid - tight - smooth, fast neck - great grain in the wood with the satin finish is very tactile, makes you want to run your hand over the bass all the time.

Also a little plug for James and Brandt at The Perfect Bass - they communicated well with me and did all they could do to make this a good transaction. Thanks guys.
