Well...here are photos of a Roscoe Red finish over an exhibition quilt maple top and a spalted purpleheart fingerboard. Maybe someone can photoshop them together for you.

Green,
What a smokin' lookin' bass!!

What preamp did you end up with? Also, are you going with the Black Beauties? Mine still have lots of top end to them.

More pointy headstocks alert!!!

Just found this on bassworld in the UK - the owner reckons its about 12 years old - I don't think so! Very Kitch and very 1980's.

FUNKY!! Glad we're not at "12 years ago" with regard to Roscoe guitars!

On another topic, I swapped out the strings on my Black ash Roscoe to the D'Addario nickels.

Pros:
Makes the bass easier to play - it's "slicker" to the feel"
Makes the bass more even sounding. Lessens or eliminates "funky spots" in the maple board.
It seems to highlight the birdseye in the board. Doesn't hide it like black strings.

Cons:
Doesn't look as cool
Not as growly...lessens the Marcusy factors in the tone.

Strings

I can never make up my mind on the whole nickel/stainless thing. I like a clean punchy full sound and find the smooth stainless strings good on the fingers whereas the nickles that I have tried have been a bit harsh sounding and rougher to the touch.

wEiRd!!!! I find just the opposite to be true. I love how the Black Beauties look, but to my middle-age fingers, they have kind of a "tacky" feel to them.

Fair comment - I am using stainless DR Hi beams at the moment and I am enjoying them, once they have been worn in a bit to lose some of the zing - but they retain some nice snap for a long time.

I have been using some STRINGLIFE coating on the strings and find that that keeps the tone clean for ages.

Thanks for the input
