Single Cut Roscoe

My fellow RoscoeHeads and Headetts, ever since a fellow tber named "Addison," posted that photoshop picture of a Roscoe as a singlecut I've been jonesing for one. I've called Gard as of this week to ask Keith to make me one and the question is still up in the air. I told him that I'm willing to pay to for Keith to experiment on the first one he's ever made. Anyone else jonesing for a Roscoe single cut? Maybe if we create a demand then Keith and Roscoe Guitars will have to supply that demand even if its only a few. Anyone with me? Of course mine will have to be the first 6 string ever made.

Deon,

What's the benefit of single cut? Is there an advantage over standard other than appearance?

Thanks man.

God Bless, Ray

no benefit, maybe a bit more sustain because its more wood but I just love single cuts.

Exclamation

Oh my!

I can see right now that I've got to stay off this forum for a while! Between Deon's new build "waterdrop" maple top/back, the Koa on Greg's site and Addison's dream single cut, I don't stand a chance!

...... now what's that pass code for my 401K?! .....

KEITH HAS AGREED TO BUILD MY CUSTOM SINGLE-CUT 6 STRING! I'll of course be starting a new thread soon on this one. I'll be dropping my deposit within the next week or 2.

They're beautiful basses, I just thought there may be an ergonomic benefit or something. I know very little about a whole lot so I thought I'd ask.

Going for three Fantaastic Roscoes are you? I hope you get ten!

(Somebody's gotta try and keep up with Joe!)

Man I type too slow!

Looking forward to it. Maybe if it turns out well, you'll have the prototype to a new model Roscoe! How cool is that?

Addison will be right behind you.

On neck-throughs, they add stability to the neck.

They also provide better neck balance, if you need it.

'oh my' is exactly what I said!

that PS mockup is gorgeous! I can't wait to see Keith and the guys' take on it!

depending on the reality of how it comes out, I might be interested in that shape myself when I get to that point of doing a fretless 6!

suggestion here.....if it's a bolt-on, make sure the neck attaches to the body high enough up on the bass side of the neck that it doesn't interfere with playability in the upper register. There is one builder who's very well know for single cuts who offers a single cut bolt on model. Where the neck is bolted to the body on this model is possibly the single worst thought out concept I've ever seen and played. Where the body attaches on his is behind the A string and you have to completely re-adjust your hand past the 12th fret to get around this huge block of body...so playing say a G or an A on the 15th and 17th fret of the E string is extremely uncomfortable(even if it's just a quick slide up)

Can you provide a photo of the neck joint? We're going to be looking at everything we can find over the next few weeks, and any photos would be very cool...

Thanks!

I bet he means this Benevente style one, which I always though was a cool idea.

Never even thought about that but I'm glad you mentioned it. This is why R&D is so important when starting a new build such as this however, I have completely trust in Keith that he's going to come thru with a quality product the first time taking all things into account. I can't wait until its finished! I will say that I want Gard to be in contact with us all thru this thread with each developing moment (shapes, design etc...). Our opinion should ultimately design and develop this bass afterall its us who will be purchasing them now and in the near future. I'm just siked that I'll have the very first one make maybe the serial number can be SC6001.

Thumbs up

We're all pumped Deon!

I can't believe that you've got 2 monster Roscoe's in the works now!

I can see right now that we've got to move the next Middle Georgia GTG up to correspond with the completion of the SC Roscoe.

I've got to see and play those two bass!

This will be an awesome thread!

Joe my SKB6 should be finishing up soon. I plan to put the deposit down for the SC when I go to pick it up.

Wow, that mockup looks killer! I am a big fan of most single cut designs and the altered SKB body style just works for me. Hopefully this will take care of some of the neck pocket space that seems to happen on the Roscoes I've had and have.
