SKB 3006 and Flats?

I really like flats and was considering putting a set on my SKB.
Anybody using anything in particular? I usually use D'Addiaro Chromes but was unable to find a 6 string set online. Suggestions? Recommendations? Am I crazy?

I tried the GHS Brite Flats on a Roscoe a few years ago. They actually sounded real nice. Kind of in between the traditional flat rounds and the round wound sound. If you have multiple basses it might work out nicely but I suspect that I'd miss the good old wirey sound of the nickel round wounds on a lot of the tunes.......

The TI Jazz flats sound real nice too. Very good on fretless!

Thumbs up Ive had the same thought!

I always loved flats on my other basses. My thinking is the phatter the better. I wonder if DR makes a flat wound. I also am thinking id like try Thomastick. Of course D'addario makes a great flat as well. From my experience I would start with the D'Addarios. I just got my Roscoe in October so I havent needed a string change. I not sure why I wouldnt try it. I'm sure Roscoes have enough clarity in the highs that I wont lose that part of the tone. Ihave an SKB 3005 with mahagony body and myrtle top- all Bart electronics- so my instrument has a rich warm sound to start with. I would like to hear from you if you experiment with any strings, or anyone else. Also tell usme about you woods and electronics. Thanks for the post.

Usually you have to get a 5 string set and then purchase the high C string separate. I have my 5 string strung with a high C so I purchase a 4 string set of TI flats and then get the single high C.

I've been able to find TI 6-string sets at several online retailers. The thing that concerns me is the .136 B string--that seems HUGE to me. Oh and the C is only.033.
I was also looking at LaBella Deep Talking Flats (or the Carvin equivalent), and their Tapewounds. I have used the tapewounds before and really liked them as they still retained a lot of the zing.
I can't seem to find out if Chromes come in a 6 string set.

I use Deep Talking flats on one fretless and Tapewounds on another. I stay away from flats on a fretted because they sound, well, flat. I like a little more brightness. My ideal set for fretted was buying a set of Conklin Snakeskins for a 7 string, and then tossing the highest one when I had 35 scale 6 strings. Now with my 34, I only use SIT Rock Brights.

None of these are Roscoes, though.....the bonus fairy wasn't that nice this year. There's always next ye...what? What economic news?
