SKB/ Century Sig. ?

This may have been covered and I failed to see it but OTHER THAN BODY SHAPE what is the difference between these 2 models that is cause for $1000.00 price gap? I like both, but for $1K I'm going for the SKB.

The wedge neck is included, and the body looks to take a bit more carving work even though both have the carved top.

From the price list on the Roscoe site the wenge neck is $100.00 on the Cent Sig. as opposed to $500.00 on the SKB.

I might be wrong, but I think there is quite much more work involved in the wedge neck of the Century Signature as opposed to a standard neck. Consider the tapered center block vs the standard non-tapered purpleheart center. Also there is a volute at the headstock in the Century Signature which, as far as I know, is not standard in the other models. There is some other little details as well, like decorative veneers and an inlaid "R" logo at the headstock. I guess all these things contribute to the price difference, not to mention that possibly the carving work of the Century might require more work than the other models.

Plus the autgraphed poster of Gard, like Basso said, which of course is priceless...

The standard neck on the sig. is a WEDGE, not WENGE (and no they don't sound alike)

The upgrade to wenge wedge is cheaper on the sig because it has a wedge neck as standard equipment

I saw one on ebay go for $2,000 so it's a good investment.

Yah, I saw that as well. But that one was a limited edition print. Only 12 were made and 7 were destroyed in the great fire on 2005.

yeah, my Century came with an autographed poster of boobie shots from Gard and Jong from Jivesound. I'd go with the Century.

Two words -

Play them.

IMHO - the Century has a better balance to it which is great for us old guys with bad shoulders. I played a Century v SKB a couple of years ago when they first came out at Bass Central. Couldn't put the Century down. It's an exemplary instrument (now if only the pots weren't stacked.....)

...disturbing, just disturbing...especially that freaked out messycan NJL...

...Allen, everything has been pretty well answered by the resident Roscoeheads (once you wade through the flotsam and jetsam of their twisted minds, that is! ).

Jeff seems to be the least "afflicted", so just read up on his posts and if you have any further questions, just let me know.

That's not to say that Jeff is not "afflicted"!

The key here is "least Afflicted"....

As opposed to Gard who is the "most Allicted".....
Can I get an AMEN?
