So, I Got A Parcel Today...

... from Mark at Bass Direct, and amongst a few bits and bobs, was something I've been after a while, a Roscoe gigbag.

I have a slight case of OCD(nowhere near Jerry levels. ), and carrying my Roscoes about in a bag that said Cort on the outside bugged me. That's all sorted now. (Sorry for the crummy mobile shots, all I can do for the time being.)

It's a very, very nice bag too, digging the pale gray colour, very close to Games Workshops Fortress Gray, IIRC. Some lovely fur on the inside, thick padding. Lovely stuff, quality bag.

And of course, the money shot, since this is where my trouble started....

Funny thing is, to keep it from creasing, they put a piece of wood in it, so it couldn't fold over during postage, never heard of anything like that before, so, what the heck, here's a pic of that too.

Odd, huh?

Yum!
Koa?? Pretty sure it is!

Lovely looking bass. That can't of been at Bass Direct for more than 24 hours before you snaffled that one!

Yes sir! Koa it is, I can't get a good pic of the figure indoors though, and it's raining outside.

To be quite honest, I e-mailed Mark about it the day Gard put it in the post, it was literally in the door and back out again.

Congrats Bill! Man I love that setup; you must have been influenced by Pacman's latest bass.

Anxious to hear your thoughts.

Congrats on your new case Bill! Thats a pretty nice spacer they used to ship it also.

Beautiful bass and it should fit nicely on your arsenal.

Thumbs up

lol

Awesome Bill! I can't believe that you kept it so quiet!
Great looking Roscoe! I just love that top.

I suspect that the spacer wood greatly increased the cost of that gig bag!

While it may well indeed have been influenced by Pacmans (incredible!) bass, in my case, it was as much luck, as it was being made as stock for Bass Direct.

Cheers, I do believe it will, I don't(didn't) really have much in he way of jazzish/single tone, especially in 5ers.

I figure I was paying for the name, ya know.

Still, probably cheaper than a Fodera or Alembic gigbag....

Welcome to the Roscoe Koa-topped 5-string J Club, Bill! It's pretty exclusive, still...

Killer looking bass!

Just been checking on things with my phone. I can't believe I missed this though.

I'm a dunderhead

Love the KOA though. It and the Chilean Laurel are my favorite dark tops.

Now I truly wish I were outside your doors

God Bless, Ray

You haven't missed anything bro, quite the opposite in fact, you're right on time.

I agree, I've wanted a koa bass since I first saw it years ago, IIRC, it was Greg's bass too! Chilean Laurel is magic too!

It would be a mighty time, if you were.

Nice work! You saved me some cash by getting this one...I was going to pm Dave about this bass as its pretty much the specs I wanted in a custom anyways!

Sooooo... the million dollar question how's the tone??????

Aggressive like a J bass but smooth to play like a Roscoe? (my guess)
