Sounds of the wenge LG-3005

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but it makes no sound. Here, then, are two little demos of my newly arrived wenge LG-3005. It makes many more sounds than these, but this is a start.

It's been seven years since I played, folks, so be kind.

I threw together this first one tonight. In it I try to demo the fatness of the bass's sound. My playing is sketchy and the recorded sound is almost but not quite. The demo is representative, though, and it shows the bass's potential for recording particularly, I think:

Demo 1 -- looking for fat in the fretless

This second one is as much a demo of my just arrived Moog MF-101 Lowpass Filter as of the LG-3005. Aesthetically, it is much less accessible, but you may find it entertaining:

Demo 2 -- looking for the bubble machine

Good luck!

Snaxster

P.S. - I'll be on the road all day Tuesday, so if I don't reply to your posts till Wednesday, that's why.

Now we're talkin'! I was going to ask for sound samples yesterday, but didn't want to impose.

The bass sounds incredible - just as you described it in your other thread. I love the attack on that thing - you've definitely got a terrific instrument there. Great playing, too...spot-on intonation and great ideas.

Probably goes without saying that I dig the sound from the 'Demo 1' file a bit better than the other, but I love your playing in the second file. Nice, even glissando, and some cool funky ideas happening!

Kinda' funny, but I've posted a bunch of sound samples - including my fretless SKB, which sounds about, oh...175 degrees different than your animal - and I always start with the picture=1k words/sound file=1k notes comment.

Enjoy that bass - it's a stunner - and I can't wait to hear more of your playing.

Glad to oblige, VroomVroom! And in future, don't hesitate to ask me for sound files.

Thank you for your kind comments about my playing and music; I really appreciate it. As for my intonation, well, I did have the lines on the fingerboard.

Sound files -- cool! I will search your posts. I think it's good that your fretless SKB sounds so different from my LG, yet (I assume) they both sound like Roscoe instruments.

My road trip yesterday was to and from Nordstrand. I will post about it separately in a few days, but here is a teaser:

The wenge LG-3005 will get custom Nordstrand Big Split pickups in place of its stock Bartolinis; and it will have its stock Bartolini 3-band preamp extended to include a switchable passive mode with a tone pot (similar to the Nordy configuration); all with no drilling, but with a very rational layout. Consider the possibilities for tone!

Best,

Snaxster
