So, after talking with Gard, I found out splitting Barts to single coils is definitely an option. I'm excited to hear what that will translate to on my LG3005. I will have the ability to put in a push pull, 250K for those other interested parties, so that I can have it as is and with both pickups singled out. I'm sure others have thought of this, but anyone out done it? I was considering changing out the Barts to Big Splits that I have coming, but I want to have my cake and eat it too so I am starting with the splitting of the Barts. I don't think it will make Spanish Cedar sound like Ash, but I think it will have more finese and still be the steamroller I love.
The bonus is if I end up not using the Big Splits, then my bass teacher will and that means sound clips before and after on both occasions for all to enjoy!!!

I too have been thinking about splitting the coils on my Barts to get that single coil "Jazz bass" sound. So Daveproulx please keep us up to date on your Bart Splitting! |

Can't wait to hear those clips!
Been thinking about doing this to my LG, and IIRC, Gard said it was possible to split the Roscoe Barts into a P config, which I'd love to do to my neck pickup. |

Forgive the sloppy playing and the bad recording, I wanted to get this on here asap. I did the regular full Roscoe sound, then split, then split with more amp volume. Spilting the coils adds such dimension to the sound, I'm really digging it and for the price of a push pull pot plus labor (unless you are handy) it is a valuable addition to your tonal arsenal. Again, sorry for the quick crappy playing.
