So regardless, the police have all the facts and the bass is now considered stolen by NC law. I was hoping Sheldon would man up and pay so I held off giving anyone's information to the police but since you just implicated yourself as buying a stolen bass it should be an easy thing to do now. | Quote:

Blah, I hate the situation for everybody involved. |
It appears to me that Clint knew of Danny getting the bass before Sheldon had settled up with him. I'd have to check the NC statute but that's not an ordinary buying stolen property scenario. Clint you'd allowed Sheldon to sell the bass to Danny knowingly. And Danny can prove that this is the case. By the letter of the law Danny bought "stolen" property, however you as the primary lein holder agreed to the scenario.
I can explain my point with the following situation;
My Pop goes to Chevy and buys a new truck. A year into the financing he decides he can no longer afford the payments. I can then contact GMAC and "take over" the financing of the truck. And at the point that GMAC has agreed to let me do so, my Pop is no longer liable in the event I miss a payment, I am.
I don't know, I'd have to contact a NC lawyer.
It seems to me that Sheldon is who you should hold accountable being you were made aware of the sale to Danny.
God Bless, Ray

If people search your old threads they'll see that I bought the bass, plus you stated this: it was redirected before it left my house. DannyR is getting a nice bass! Quote:

I mean, I would've never let him sell the bass unless a) it was paid in full or b) the payment came directly to me.
Anyway, don't want to argue, this whole things sucks! I hope you can resolve your issues with Sheldon. |

I did ask the name of the new owner so he could have a heads up that I was having to list this as stolen until everything is cleared up.
There is a legal binding written contract signed and witnessed between me and Sheldon, so I am legally the lean holder of the property. Quote:

You never implicated me. I just wanted to chime in because if people see your old threads they'll see that I bought the bass... I mean that's pretty obvious! If they do a search for Roscoe LG-3005 they'll see that I sold that bass here.... I just wanted everybody know that I had nothing to do with this.
I sold the bass a few months ago but I will not say to whom. Why? because honestly I forgot his name! I'll go thru my PMs and I'll send him a PM, or I'll check my paypal account or something. Quote:

However you've said essentially that you were forwarding the information of Danny now owning the bass to the police.
But the oddity in that is you were already aware of Danny buying/owning the bass BEFORE it left your possession? That's what puzzles me.
Was your signed contract with Sheldon amended to show possession being taken by Danny?
At the point of sale to Danny of which you're admittedly aware of, did you make Danny aware that the bass wasn't yet fully paid for by Sheldon? Could you prove that to the authorities?
God Bless, Ray

| | | | Beautiful Roscoe 6 string lost in Athens Greece, 2/4/2011 Hello fellow bassists,
It pains me to inform this group that I have lost my gorgeous Roscoe 6 string bass, while I was touring in Athens Greece. Here's how it went: At 3:00 am, after finishing up the 2nd of 3 shows at the Gazartte Club, I hopped in a cab with 2 band members and put the bass in the trunk. We had the driver take us to a corner near our hotel, The Hotel Parthenon. After the driver dropped us off, we had a short walk to the hotel. When I arrived at the hotel, I realized something was missing. I had left my bass in the trunk of the cab, by then it was too late! A police report has been filled, but I think all hope is lost. The bass was in a Black/Grey Body Glove gig bag and contained all my music for the tour I was on, plus a small pouch with some tools in it.
I bought the bass used from a store in Swarthmore Pennsylvania, called, Swarthmore Music in May of 2002. As I dig through my receipts from back then, I realize I never recorded the serial number of the bass, all I have are pictures to go from. Pictures can be seen at my website. http://www.alpayson.com
If anyone has any information regarding this bass, please email me.
Thank you all for reading......

I imagine most people who don't know what Roscoe basses are will still realize the beauty and impeccable craftsmenship.
I looked at your site, impressive.
Wish I could help another Red Sox fan (Go Sox!).
Best of luck, Pete |

| | | | In 2005 I also had a LG-3005 Cobalt blue quilted maple top stolen. I never live it down, I still get mad about it today, although I finally have scrounged some $$ up to possibly buy another, but it would have to be used. I will post on the for sale section and see if anyone has one. |

| | | Oh I guess, for the heck of it, the bass was stolen in the Fairfield ( near Cincinatti Ohio ) by two bimbos a friend had over for the night. To make it even worse, I played for them that previous night, anyway here is a video of a bass exactly like it. The only photos I have are just not good enough to even post, and of course I can't think of the Serial, so I have already given up years ago, but what the hey. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwT6UAoX8lI | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
