Mines about 1/3 the overall depth, Gards is more like 1/2 IIRC

Really!!?? I thought they were very very shallow... Is this the norm for most manufacturers to go that deep?

I've been very happy with DR Fatbeams, but I haven't tried many other sets. I'll have to try those BB's pretty soon to see if I like them.

what about another DR coated string such as red devil, are there any tone difference??

I've used pretty much all of the colors at one time or another (we even put a PINK set on a bass that we sent to a friend of the shop - just to mess with him! ), and no, there is no difference in tone that I can hear.

So, go with the color that "works" for you....even if it's PINK!

Hey, I'm pretty GQ for a straight guy.... I mean, I will rock a pink shirt under a black jacket, or pink socks but...

Friends dont let friends put pink strings on their bass!!
