Super Long Scale D'Addarios...necessary?

I just placed an order with juststings for a some EXL220's for the middle section of my SKB6. I noticed there was a twin pack of the 220's so I bought that one without second guessing. The problem is that the single pack were Super Long Scale (which what I heard was recommended for Roscoes) and the Twin Pack is simply Long Scale... I can use the strings on another bass, or resell them, so it is no big deal, but are they going to be too short?

The answer to your question is "maybe".

Typically, we have seen the E and B strings on the non-"Super Long Scale" sets come up just a bit short for our basses, and we have seen them work as well...just depends on how long they were making them that day.

We recommend the Super Long sets because they ALWAYS fit.

I'm afraid that you'll run into problems with the Long Scale on the B & E strings. The windings stop just prior to the nut slot.

Bummer..............

Yup, exactly what I was trying to say, but more informational.

FYI, I use DR Black Beauties, and ALL DR strings will work on our basses, to the best of my knowledge.

Dang. I ordered a Super Long B separately, but the E is coming in the pack of Long Scales... I might just order an Super Long E and take the hit on it. Now I know!

+1, I have started using these on my fretted Roscoe and they work and sound great!

+1 I string DR on all my Roscoes and I've never had a problem! I've done DR Sunbeams, Lowriders, & Lowriders the way P-nut prefers! (thanks for the tip, Gard)

Just an update..

The Long Scale EXL220's fit my SKB6 no problem! I did get a Super Long .125 B, but all the rest of the strings were Long Scale and fit fine... I even had plenty of string to spare! The super light gauge puts me back at home... I'm finally am starting to feel/sound like 'myself' on that thing.
