switch hole

Hi there !

I need your opinion on one thing :
The previous owner of my SKB3006 (n°5163) added a switch (position between the vol and mid knobs) for switching the coil on the p-up... I rewired the everything to the normal, but I've the switch hole "free", and dont know what to do.

I was thinking about having the hole filled with wood (same as top), but it will not be invisible
So, i was thinking about :
1. Add a 3 positions mid switch instead of the pushpull
2. Go Audere

I like the actual sound of my bass, so the 1 choice should not be so bad...

Well first of all, if you like the sound of the pre currently in the bass (I assume that it's the Bart 3-band) then I wouldn't just throw money at a new Audere (although I personally prefer the Audere pre over the Bart). If the installed pre already has the push/pull volume pot for the mid control, you could just keep it like that and add a series/par switch instead. IMO the 3-position mid switch doesn't add much over the 2. IMO it would be a lot of trouble to replace the existing push-pull switch on the volume control with a std. pot and 3-position switch. Of course I'd probably have just left the SP/DP switch there. It's not like you have to use it, but it's there if you wanted too.

Of course, if you just have some cash to spend and want to try the Audere pre, go for it! I don't know how it sounds with the Bart p/u's but it sounds great with the Nordstrand p/u's!

Salut Uziel,

I'm with Joe on this one. If you like your actual Roscoe tone, the Audere which I have in my fretless is a very different animal. It may change your sound in a way you could not like.

Nevertheless, I found that you can make the Audere sounds like a Bart, the opposit is not true.

I've finished the rewiring... putting the 3way switch for the mids was a good thing, it's way more versatil now

for those who have a bart pre, where is soldered the ground wires (pups, preamp, bridge and jack) on your bass ?
