| | | | Switching Fretless to Fretted... Is it theoretically possible to swap from a fret-less to a fretted neck on a 5 string Roscoe? I am trying to buy a Roscoe, but my budget is around 2k, and it's just shy of buying what I want new, but finding used LG-3005 is kind of rough. I can't seem to find many, and the ones I do find are usually fret-less, but are a great buy used. I figured it would 1: cost too much to buy another neck, and 2: would never fit as well as the old neck anyway. Should I just forget that idea? My first Roscoe was stolen, and I have feverishly been trying to find another LG-3005 like it, but have had little luck in my price range |

What you'd have to do is find a luthier that would fret the neck that's on the bass. Roscoes machinery is not set up to fret the Diamondwood, but it can be done. If the fretless you find would be ebony, they might fret that (Gard will know).
But as far as having a fretless neck AND a fretted, I've heard that would be crazy expensive.
BTW, Check out their Standard and Standard Plus line. They've made some LG Standards that are very nice.
God Bless, Ray

Were I in your situation, I would hit Gard up about getting a Standard 3005 model with a LG body.

Brian, you got the straight scoop from these guys - if you're already around 2K, save up another $200 and get a brand-new LG Standard 5. No fancy stuff, but all the good stuff - sounds and plays like a Roscoe!
Let me know if I can help!

| | | Ok so check this out...I don't know what to do. I accidently bought a 4 string cobalt blue quilted maple. I lowballed these guys and they actually took the offer, I was just shooting in the dark basically...but it's a 4 string and..it's a 34'' scale. Not exactly what I was looking for, BUT it is the same bass I had stolen sans the string, so it would ALMOST be my old bass. I play 4 string now, and have always played 4 string, but I usually go for 5 string if I buy something expensive, and I string as a 6 string but without the Low-B. I like the G string on 6 string, but don't exactly love the size of the bass/neck as much. I can play a 6, I have huge fingers, but I just prefer the 4 or 5 feel on the neck and bass. I don't know though, think I should get it? Here is link. New Roscoe LG-3000 Cobalt Blue Quilt Maple Top 4-String - eBay (item 270432611029 end time Mar-10-11 08:35:31 PST)
Also another thing to point out, it is new it looks like, so it's probably at least $3,000 guitar with that top anywhere else.
