Well me and the family made the trek to Greensboro for the weekend for a conference. My wonderful wife let me escape for an hour or so and I headed over to Roscoe. I had no idea what I was getting into. I did leave my cash and credit card back at the hotel ... Something told me for the sake of marriage to do so
Anyways...VERY welcoming staff ....Got to meet everyone I believe including Keith. Hard to believe this laid back shop kicks out the quality and beauty that they do.
The Gardfather gave me a great tour dealing with my slew of questions. He also pointed out a few possible bodies for the Bass Player review ..all I can say is wipes eyes Also saw a few more fantastic bodies in process and a birdseye neck that well...I can't describe it...just
I've started to get an idea of my dream build. It may be a few years but man o man.
Oh and the Century Standards look like they will be fantastic as well..
All I can say is if your considering a Roscoe or have the eye for one and can afford it...go for it. I've been nothing but impressed with the two I've owned . I've come to the conclusion when dealing with Roscoe. Take what you expect the bass to be x10 and you have a Roscoe...Superb Superb Superb

I'm sure it had to be a red letter day for a Roscoehead!
I'm hoping to get up there to pick my new LG up in the near future. I can't believe that I've had so many built and still haven't gotten to meet all of the guys in person!
The youtube video's are awesome and, while I'm sure that they don't compare to the real deal, they sure are cool to watch.
If I'd known that you were going I'd have asked you to check out my burl maple topped LG under construction. |

The first little room consists of a cool long islander soldering up the electronics and a wall full of beautiful bodies and necks not put together. Gard pointed out a few completed ones on a separate rack going out.
Then you enter the actual wood shop..Full of wood tops and bodies ...and equipment....just unbelievable..
Once your in there its like man..heres Tony he;s only sanding on a $4000 bass body..no big deal ...
I'm really considering saving up for one of the bass player beauties..Don't know if I'll come close to getting one but man were they fantastic.
Had another headed to alpha music in va beach that blew me away.
Crazy stuff...pics don't come close as many of you know.
Its worth the trip...go during the summer so you can catch a baseball game with Gard

This must be the new Joe Meyers Signature bass that all the folks down in Georgia have been raving about. I'm sure Keith and Gard are pretty excited to have a new endorsing artist as well.
BTW-What was the upgrade charge for the galvinization on that nifty tub?

I too drove right past it 2-3 times before I just stopped to ask where it was. The shop blew me away like you said from such humble beginnings come such incredible Roscoe basses!! The link below is of my daughter and myself during my visit to the shop. That trip was on my "Bucket List" and I plan to go again. While I was there I watched Keith put all the pieces together, string, set up, test and ship out an LG-3005. It sounded like a Roscoe right of the bat, I was blown away. I love my two 3006's but I want just one more, that I spec out completely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xA_VGPuVM8

The bass is actually a Dub bass. It doubles a semi-acoustic bass and a fishing rod! A BASS fishing rod to be specific!
......And the tub Dubs as a "Bass Acoustic Enhancement Chamber" (BAEC for short;also the tuning of the bass) and a temporary home for the fish that you catch!
Gard and Keith are excited because they really think they can flood the Georgia market because everyone in Georgia loves bass players and love to fish! It's a win/win situation! |

Great for Motown classics! |

I love my two 3006's but I want just one more, that I spec out completely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xA_VGPuVM8 | I just received a very very sad phone call a few moments ago.
The Mac, or by his "real" name, Dwayne McPhail, passed away this weekend.
Dwayne was a super nice guy, he visited the shop a couple of times, and called often as well. It was always a joy to have him here, and a pleasure to speak with him.
Apparently, Dwayne had a stroke earlier this month, and after he had begun to show signs of improving health, he was allowed to go home with his mother to Philadelphia. He had a massive heart attack over the weekend and did not recover.
His mother called, inquiring about the value of his beautiful SKB 3006, the Thuya Burl topped one. I gave her some numbers, and recommended that the family look into ebay as a place to move it for a fair price. It would be really cool to see it find a home with a fellow Roscoehead/TBer, and for the family to get something fair for it - please keep an eye out for it over the next few days, and if I run across it, I will post a link to the auction myself.
A very sad day indeed.

Why do these things happen?
Prayers and Blessings to all that knew and loved Dwayne.
God Bless, Ray

Roll the bones...
Not comforting words, but true ones.
This is a reminder to us all that life is transient, tomorrow is not guaranteed, and we do not know what happens next, we just hope something will.
Make sure that those you love know it every day, enjoy yourself at everything you do.
I'm certain that Dwayne would have said the same.

Very sad indeed. Thoughts & prayers w/ the family.
Should anything ever happen to ole Data, CrashClint & JOME77 are in charge of helping my wife move my collection on TB!
Under no circumstances are any of my babies to fall into the hands of CatusmanDoug, lsu921, or my arch-nemesis Youngs!
I will strike thee down from above with eternal fret buzz should any of this come to pass. Unless CC and JOME really stick it to CMD & get more than the basses are worth. Then I will bless them with years of good tone.
