Looking back to when I first acquired my LG3005 (
I may be here to stay ) brings me to a few revelations. Back in Jan of this yr. I hit the big 50. I decided to pick up a Sadowsky 24-5 from a friend of mine. I fell in love with the neck from the moment I picked it up. The tone, while 180 degrees from my Roscoe with a Demeter pre and Barts, was a nice contrast just the same. I ended playing the Sadowsky for most of my gigs just due to the fact that the two basses sit totally different on my body. Going from the Sad to the LG is like night and day. Believe me it's NOT the 34" to 35" scale difference, but rather where the end of the neck sits because of the body shape. The notes are literally two frets off all the way down the neck. I honestly have contemplated the idea of not keeping them both for that very reason. So not to make the Roscoe jealous,

I do manage to pick it up at least for a bit of every practice session.
Last week I had hernia surgery and was told not to lift anything over ten pounds for the immediate future. While the Sad is pretty light in it's own right, my LG is still the lightest bass I have ever owned. Since even sitting upright with a belly full of staples is very uncomfortable, I choose to play the Roscoe for my entire rehab. Just for the hell of it, I put on a set of slightly worn Black Beauties I had lying around and began to play. It hit me like a ton of bricks.

What was thinking? I love this bass as much as the day I bought it. It just feels so good. Somehow I am going to try to make this work out for me. Maybe if I split the time 50/50 with both basses, that will do the trick. I do wish the Demeter pre had a bit more output to it however. That pre sounds so good, but just needs some more omph. I've even thought of changing to a Aguilar OBP-3 or maybe a set of Bart CB's or Fat Stacks just to mix things up a bit. Anyway, I guess this just brings me to letting the love affair start all over again.
