Vintage style Roscoe Century Standards......

Between the fact that I'm playing my LG with flats for the last few months, the recent Roscoe J models, the beat to hell and back 3006, and my love of both vintage & modern styles, this idea started rolling around in my all too hollow noggin...

See what ya'll think...

I'm not 100% on the look yet, but I'd put money on it sounding like an utterly killer 51 P-Style.

I'd imagine the controls as vol-mids-bass/treble-tone.

Could've removed some controls, but where's the fun in that!

Good idea Bill! I'd add a guard and the "tele style" control plate and I think you've got a hit

Change it to an Alder body and make it road worn.

Can't get the guard working, at all, the shape is just not working for me with the Century body.

Cheers Jerry man, it's quickly becoming my favourite thing to do when I can't play*.

*In fairness, I can't ever play, even when I try.

Bill,
I'm lovin this!
A modern 51' P-bass. Now that's a unique product. Really like the clean lines you've given it.
Wonder what it would sound like with a chambered body?
Nah, that's a little too far out.

Gard hasn't rang in yet. Wonder what he's thinkin.

I like my highly custom non matching headstock painted Standard, thankyouverymuch!

Most of the gloss finishes do look better matching. But I think mine wouldn't look as awesome with the matching headstock. I think it'd distract someone away from the inlay.

God Bless, Ray

I'd agree, with rosewood/pau ferro/diamondwood anyway, but IMO maple looks great without paint, or with it.

Heh, I suppose it does look Antigua-ey, I only put in the darkened edges though to give the impression of some roll over on the body, and to take the sharp edges off the lines I painted on.

Chambered body..... that would be different and awesome, but would it make the Roscoe too light, since they're pretty light to begin with?

There's nothing that could be done to that bass to improve it, perfect the way it is!
