What has changed in the profile of neck over the years?

Did I understand correctly that current basses have a thinner profile than those say in 2000/2001? Especially interested in understanding if anything has changed in LG-3005

I can grab a LG-3005 from 2000/2001 and only thing I don't like too much is the neck, a tad too thick for my tastes...

Thickness is prob. very subjective...but ill chime in.

Ive nevrr played an older Roscoe but did put my hands on a 5 banger about 6 months ago. Im OCD when it comes to thickness and action. The neck was perfect in my hands...not the least bit chunky or thick. I can say there is going to be some variance as these are hand done...so one necj may be sweet...another thicker or thinner..They will build whatever u want

I've been owning and playing Roscoe's since the mid 90's and I can't say that I've noticed any definitive change in the feel of a Roscoe neck.

Of course I've always loved them and would have never thought to describe a Roscoe neck as thick.

Gard will chime in when he wakes up this morning. He'll know for sure. I suspect that he'll say that they all differ ever so slightly, due to the finished hand carving, but that they should be relatively the same as yesteryear.

Maybe you played a special ordered bass.

Where's my #@$%&(ing coffee?

...ahhh...much better!

OK, what Joe said.

You can request a "thin" or "fat" profile, but our standard profile is pretty much the same from any period, given that different people have shaped them and they are indeed hand-shaped, so there is variation.

My Roscoe is from the early to mid 90's and I recently played Joe's new one and mine side by side.
IMHO there is no real difference in the neck thickness other than what Joe & Gard describe. Both were super sleek compared to my J-bass w/Warmoth neck.

Gard. 10:30 is kinda late for a first cup-o-joe ain't it?

You music industry big wigs live the life. lol.

Well, the first cup was being imbibed at 7 am, right after my 30+ minute dog walk (I put it on to brew before I go on the walk).

I dunno about that whole "big wig" thing...
