Ash Body, Exhibition Flame Maple top, Cherry Burst with matching headstock. Maple neck with purpleheart/ cherry lams, bubinga fretboard.
This bass has only reitterated what I love about Roscoe. Any of you on the fence should take the plunge. I have wasted the last several years trying many other basses. I still love my Kinal for my fretless work but my Roscoe is the sound I've been going for all along.
Words cannot describe the sound. It just does what I think a bass should. It sounds warm like a P but with a focus and a bite that is unbelievable. I don't need to EQ the crap out of it. In fact, its the only bass that I find has a "sweet spot" in the EQ where the bass sounds best. Its sounds good no matter what I do.. changes to the EQ just color the basic sound slightly. The B is straight of a grand piano... I am a Roscoe player for life. Thanks to all the guys that put this one together!!!!!

My particular bass needs a pretty major overhaul right now, but it's going to be totally worth it. I still use Fenders in the studio and in the rare situations when I'm playing rock music, but the Roscoe is always my main axe. |

That they look stellar and are made with great care and quality are a close second because that's important to me too. I like enjoying an instrument not just for it's sound/feel but for it's looks as well if it's possible. It isn't my only bass of choice, certain styles don't call for it...but it's my main axe when I play live. The feel and the tone...thats where it's at with Roscoe for me. |

Don't get me wrong. I've been a fan of Jimmy Haslip since the early years after purchasing the first Robben Ford album in the late 70"s, but Jimmy Haslip sounded like Jimmy Haslip way before he played Roscoe basses.
If I played a bass because I liked the sound that a certain heavy or influential player got with them then I'd probably still be playing Fenders because most of the players that influenced me (and I really dug their sound) play(ed) Fenders.
Maybe it's more of a case of seeing Haslip play a Roscoe made you aware that Roscoe basses even existed? |

I'll say this. The clips I saw of Jimmy sounded different with that Roscoe than with his Yamahas and Tobias's and whatever else he's played. I can hear the difference. Obviously the way his Roscoe responds to his hands is what makes the sound, but the bass IS a part of it, however small it may be in whatever situation for whatever player. |

Many years ago when I was a guy with only coins on my wallet I read an article in BP Magazine of a special of Gospel Bass players were one of theses guys said that he was to a Bass Store to buy a Tobias but was crazy with the sound acoustic and conected of a LG 5. This made me be interested in search for more.
I write to Keith from my born country Panama asking for a catalog and he send me a price list and pictures taken for him self of an LG 5 and a SKB 6 in Zebra wood. But like I said before I wasn´t able to afford one of theses babies (11 years ago).
4 years ago I was able to afford a better bass than my TRB 5 and my idea was buy an used Smith but a good friend that live in houston and knows J Haslip, recommend me buy a Roscoe... I never test a Roscoe before and an article at BP Ultimate 5 strings made me be a little unsecure of my choosing... My friend question if I look any Rock bass player playing over a Smith and my reply was, no.
I trust in his words and buy my first Roscoe with closed eyes. Next when my bass come to me I was totally blown away...this is the most versatil bass played on my life...I can afford any kind of musical styles....yes , I play Rock too. For me are 3 thinks:
-The best B string of the world
-Unmistakable tone that fit all kind of music
-Every bass is hand made and unique (very exclusive).
Theses basses are affordable if you can organize your wallet and wait with patiente.
Finally, Keith is an artist. Every time that I look my Custom Century fretless I only can smile and enjoy this master piece.
Regards and Merry Christmas,

Tommy Julio www.myspace.com/bajosexclusivos | I bought gigged and recorded 3 albums with a Smith BMT Elite G because of that shootout in BP. I like the appearrance and I could play every note on the neck. Couldn't get my sound live though, found Roscoe and never looked back. They do have an acoustic sound. I reread the BP test and except that mine was cosmetically perfect everything they said about it was true. Sonically it is a P-bass that sounds like a Steinway and to me Way much more. The review was true I just wasn't able to understand it at the time. |

Improvisational stuff with hot players. The vibist and keyboardist are from Silent Orchestra. The Guitarist from Dokken. The Drummer from the Joan Juskus Group. The Bassist, me, from Thin Air. The most enjoyment can be had with good audio or good headphones. The broad range of frequencies on the Roscoe can be had with no knob twiddling. http://www.kevinburnes.com/AUDIO/melange7.mp3

You are getting one of the less "standard Roscoe" tones, which is nice to show that these are versatile basses that can be used in all kinds of music. Quote:
