I have a dream/vision of a very special fretless SKB or Century that I know will never become a reality so it is forever to remain just that a dream. So I was wondering what other lovers of all things Roscoe ultimately harbored as their fantasy bass.
Express yourselves.

...if we figure it out, I get the first one!

My fantasy Roscoe is a twelve string lined fretless with the same wood combos of my current fretless SKB3006 (pretty much the same woods as Gards fretless). Octaves just like a twelve string guitar only a huge, very flexible sounding tone monster of a bass. I believe this would just kill in every musical situation.
Thats mine, whats yours? |

LG3000 'rock' bass
1-piece 'top grade' ash body
grain-enhanced TB burst
Wedge neck w/ wenge center, yellowheart strips
Wenge board, do the Roscoe ovals work well with an open-grain wood? maybe just the abalone 12th fret
Fat Stacks, likely,
Aggie OP-3
Anything else? Oh, should I get a matching ash headstock cap or wenge?
Satin finish. could I get chrome w/ the satin, or is that funny lookin'?
Or:
SKB3005 'smooth' bass
Light-colored, non-maple top on cedar w/ a groovy pinstripe layer maybe purpleheart
Very red fretboard- Colo/Bub, Paduak/Kingwood/katalox. pretty open here
Wedge neck eiher matching or contrasting the fingerboard, maybe just an all maple wedge?
Bart CB's, and I'd give the Audere a try
-any word on the 6-string CB's? I think I may have a 'cash-burning-hole-in-pocket' thing going on here, though not enough for an entirely new bass unfortunately.

SKB-3007
Ash body w/ walnut top + walnut veneer on headstock
Maple fingerboard
Bartolini happiness
Black hardware
Nothin' fancy beyond the hard top and the number of strings. I know it's all personal choice, but I've yet to hear any electronic configuration that sounds better than the Barts. And if my wife would handle that lottery business thing, this fantasy would come to life. |

Roscoe basses have been #1 with me since I first picked one up. I've never felt a bass that fits me so well.
As far as my Fantasy Roscoe, well I've rethought the tone wood combination based on the MTD Marilyn I used to own, and I'm pretty sure I would shoot for a SKB or Century (whichever one would be better for balance) lined fretless 12 string with a chambered Alder body and a nice Redwood top. The Alder/Redwood combo just kills with the Barts. |

SKB 3006
Cobalt Blue or Cordovan finish over quilted maple
Roscoe Bart PUs
Audere pre
Ebony or Ebony w/sapwood board (I'm a sucker for ebony boards)
Mahogany body
Diamondwood nut
It's nothing real exotic but it's what occupies my thoughts these days. Someday it will be mine. I've started saving for it but unless I sell one or more of my other basses it will be awhile before I can order it. Luckily, I've got two other Roscoes to keep me busy in the meantime.
