WHAT'S IT WORTH?

Hey fellow Roscoe players!

I have a 3 year old and not often played LG3005. Quilted maple sunburst top, spanish cedar body, neck with purple heart center strip, birdseye maple fingerboard. Plays and sounds great. Due to my recent affair with a small scale I want to sell the Roscoe. I *bay'd it for 1800 and no bids. I was pretty suprised based on what they cost new. What do you think I should ask for it and what can I expect??? thanks.

It's tough right now.

A lot of people aren't spending.

You might make out better trading it for something else you want. It's doesn't even have to be for another bass. It could speaker cabs, power amps, preamps, tube amps, etc.

This is all really subjective. If you can be patient, I don't think $1,800 is out of line...it's just a matter of finding the right buyer. Short of that, probably worth checking the classifieds forum for comps...here a few recent ones:

FS:Ltd. Edition Roscoe LG3005

F.T. Only: The Roscoe Everybody Wants, LG-3005 For a Smith.

FS Only – Gorgeous Roscoe LG3005 – 5 string

Worth noting that the last two threads are for the same bass...which gives you the idea that these don't come up too often. Good luck...

My opinion - Ebay is an auction site, not a classifieds. Posting your asking price with no wiggle room generally doesn't get any "business". Now if you were willing to wiggle on the price and have a lower STARTING price, that might generate some bids.

Players do tend to go for the more exotic natural tops over the traditional sunburst finishes (on a Roscoe). Other than that, if it were me, I'd just list it at $1800 on TB and be patient. The bass has the current Hip Shot bridge, the head stock doesn't utilize the scarf joint (not that that's a negative construction wise but to some players it's perceived as a negative) and it appears to be in great shape.

IMO $1800 is a great deal for that bass. Unless you just need the cash I'd hold firm. Times are tough and so is cash but it's always darkest just before the dawn!

That is an honest price. Anyone wanting a Roscoe for a fair price will jump on it.

It will sell. I'm tempted to make an offer for it myself. I like Tobacco over figured maple.

Anything under $2k for that bass IMO is a steal but the economy sucks.

When you start seeing Sadowsky Metros sell for under $1500 and older Roscoe LGs go in the $1200-1300 range... you know times are tough.

I would hold onto it for a while or trade it if you can.
