Why can't I find an LG 3006?

So I think I want to try a Roscoe 6. Since my main reason is Jimmy Haslip, I thought why not a "Jimmy Haslip" model. Anyway, I can't find an LG 6 string to save my life. They are all 5'ers. Any ideas from the Roscoe owners?

Steve,
Not many out there and most of the ones that are were custom ordered.

The SKB body is standard for the 6

But not to fear.....Gard can fix you up!

Hopefully it's still there. I love their inventory but their web updating practices are suspect at best.

Too bad you hadn't thought of this sooner, Steve. I've had 4 of 'em pass through my hands in the past couple years (all SKB's, though). I'd have gladly brought one up to GF for you to check out sometime.

Bass Emporium had a lefty LG3006 in stock a while back. It was the "Jimmy Haslip Model." I went in to get some strings and John, the owner said "Hey, Jim, I was just thinking about you the other day" and handed me the bass.

I played it for maybe 10 minutes and decided that a 6 isn't for me. But maaaan it was sweet. It was the 1st lefty fretted roscoe I've ever played; it felt almost as nice as my fretless, and boy did high notes sing! The high C just totally threw me off in a way that the low B never did.

So yeah, there's gotta be some right-handed LG3006's out there somewhere, if I can find a left-handed one...

Seems the LG's are hard to find used. I suppose an SKB would be fine. I can't afford new so I have to keep an eye out for a used one, although that may be tough, too. I may be looking at a little more bass than I can afford.

Yeah, I remember you had a few. Timing.

I really don't know if I can afford one anyway. I mainly play my 5 and there's nothing wrong with my gear as it exists now. I'd like a 6 mostly for "noodling" at home, playing Yellowjackets stuff, etc.

I'm pretty torn. I listened to some sound samples of Bartolini equipped Roscoe's and made my lust worse. I wish I could play one first to be sure before I spend money I really don't have.

I will continue to read and watch for a deal and maybe someday I can get down to the "big city" and actually try one.

Steve -

Something to consider is that most of our dealers have very reasonable trial periods during which you can return the bass for a full refund less shipping costs if it's not "the bass for you".

I'd call around and check on each shop's policy, as even if you're out shipping costs, it would be considerably less than paying for the travel, not to mention the time you might lose, and you can get hand's on to be sure it's for you!

Let me know if there is anything I can help you with...

I may give Tony at Planet Bass (Maple Groove, Mn) a call. I bought a Modulus Q5 from him a while back. He also has a used Modulus Q6 that is tempting. He may be willing to send one up to me for a test drive.
