Why not!!!! Another one!!!

I figured since I just got the SKB 3006 fretted, I needed a fretless as well.
After taking to Gard about one, I just happened to come across this:

Should be here next week

Roscoes walnut is awesome. Dennis(bassWR) has an LG with a very nice walnut top.

I saw this here somewhere, can you refesh my memory on the specs, Mike?

God Bless, Ray

Thumbs up

Very nice Mike! Nothing wrong with having one of each!

That's a nice one. That probably is a walnut top....or it might be redwood. It's pretty whatever it is!

You certainly don't hang around 'eh?

This one is a beauty, and at a real score of a price, cheap and hot!(As LilRay said in another thread about it, "thats only good when it comes to Roscoes!" )

Sweet Action! Saw that one last week; love the color- remindes me of my favorite beverage at a gig: Sam Adams Lager or Dogfish 90 minute IPA.
Think I may have some at my gigs this Friday & Sat nights, perhaps w/ a new bass I am waiting on!

Great taste, Mike

Weird. I think that's my old bass. I traded to someone in Toronto for a Rob Allen who then traded it to someone in the US for partial trade on a Fodera. If it is it's a great bass.

I looked at your pics from your ad Steve, it is your old bass!!!
And I was about to PM you on it right before you traded it. But I waited and then I went back a few days later and it was gone.

So, now I have it!

Anyway, give us your take on it. Any sound clips?
And what are the exact specs if you remember.

Mine was Spanish cedar body with a redwood top as far as I know. It came to me as a used bass in pretty much mint condition. I had Black Beauties on it and a spare set went with the bass so if it is mine then the strings were changed recently.

Both the fretted and this fretless had the Bart/Bart but I liked the fretless more for some reason. The low end has really great long piano string quality to it if you know what I mean. High end had that Alain Caron like fretless sound that I wanted but I couldn't make it sound like him. Don't know what strings are on it now, if its the same bass, and what difference that will make.

Getting the Roscoes/6 strings was something I had to get out of my system. I discovered that I'm a 5 string guy when I play electric but mostly I'm gigging on the double bass. I think the double bass helped me rediscover my 5 strings. Heck I might be on 4 strings before long.

If you like the 6 string Roscoe fretted. I'm sure you'll love this.

DAMN!!!!!!
So, Brian Barrett (the Low End) calls me and says there was a mis-communaction on the bass and it was actually already sold!!!
So, I missed out
Ahh, such is life!
Brian is still a great guy, just mistakes happen!

Whut????

I don't know Brian from anything, but this smells of a "price goof".

I've watched Roscoes for a while now, and $1900 is a REAL GOOD price (not a "Fire" sale but....good).

And to be honest all the other used Roscoes I saw on the LowEnd were at or above "average" values.

I dunno.......

Too bad though.

God Bless, Ray

I don't think Brian had anything up, it was a mistake and the other guy not putting Brian in the loop.
No biggie...but I am eyeing that buckeye burl SKB 6 he has right now........I just don't need another fretted one.
Or do I???? Hmm........

Ahh, the dilemma.... Same problem I had last summer when I picked up my second fretted SKB 6. I do like that buckeye bass @ Low End - looks a lot like one I tried @ ABG on my visit to Hotlanta last fall.

It is nice, but a bit pricier than I'm used to for a used SKB--not that they aren't worth it.

Patiently wait on another Roscoe fretless. They're worth the wait.

While you can get slightly different sounding fretted Roscoe's by varying the pre/pickups/wood, they still have the basic signature Roscoe sound.
The Roscoe fretless is a totally different flavor! Delicious!

...plus, based on your profile, you have other fretted basses. You need a fretless.

Yup, wait for the fretless, it truly is worth it.

Or, there are the Century Standards, always a fantastic option...
