Acoustic bassist needed for dark, dissonant band. (San Francisco)

I'm a bassist myself, and have been on TB for 7 years or so, but I'm in need of a bassist anyway. I've released a solo acoustic album on Analyzer Records, and I'm trying to put together a live band to support it.

The material is dark, dissonant, and a bit weird - so this won't be your typical acoustic gig. The plan is to put a band together, have a few rehearsals, and then start booking gigs. This won't be a just for fun project - there will be real work involved, with real results.

What I'm looking for in a bassist: somebody at least as good as me. Ideally, an acoustic fretless and/or upright player who enjoys playing more than just root notes. Most of my songs will be open to interpretation, so each player will be responsible for discovering and writing their own parts.

Check out some samples on my website: http://www.benjaminstrange.com

For some reason at least on firefox and chrome for me the music player plays the first note and then stops.

What... you weren't impressed with the first note?

It's a simple flash player and seems to load fine on every browser. Perhaps my server or your connection was just running slow at the time - you may want to check it again.

I get the same thing. Does not even play the first note.

Weird - every other person who has checked it out hasn't had a problem (that I'm aware of). Are you guys on PC or Mac?

Well, I've discovered that some PCs don't like my flash player. I've created a new one - hopefully this one works. Let me know, please!

Well, I wouldn't care how old you are. However, coming from Fresno, that would be one hell of a commute for rehearsals...

Hey Benjamin,
Nice stuff I quite enjoyed it. Seems like lots of room for mwah dripping bass. By the way maybe it's me and my harmonic sensibility, but I really don't agree on the term dissonant for your description. Ear candy for the harmonically unafraid, perhaps.

Too bad I'm on the other side of the country, and an electric guy.

I wish you luck, it's a very cool project.

Dirk
