OK, here's the scoop...
I'm a bass player. I play with a bunch of different bands right now, trying to keep my schedule (and my wallet) full. As you might imagine, this creates some scheduling difficulties.
I'd like to find 1 or 2 bass players in the area who would be capable of backing me up periodically. There wouldn't be a ton of gigs, just once in a while. They would all be paying gigs, generally around $100/night. They would all be in the greater Twin Cities area, generally within an hour of the metro.
These would all be cover band gigs. They would involve a mix of current and classic rock, nothing groundbreaking. if you have much cover band experience, you probably already know half the set list. There aren't any real tricky arrangements going on. I could provide some basic charts and would be happy to help you with any tricky parts. There aren't many tricky parts.
The downside: the two main cover projects I'm involved with are made up mostly of nervous types. They are fairly resistant to the idea of winging it with a fill-in. I'm all for a well-rehearsed show, but I believe any competent bass player can get through "Sweet Home Alabama" without weeks of rehearsal. So, they'd probably want at least one rehearsal before each show.
The guys involved here are all late 30s to early 40s, so it would probably be helpful (but not required) if you were somewhere in that neighborhood. Women are encouraged to reply, but just know that these are all men, and half of 'em are pigs. There's a decent chance I may have to let a couple of these gigs go, and you'd be in a good position to step in and take over. I'm not saying these are the sweetest gigs ever, but it could be a "turnkey" opportunity.
So, this got long. Sorry. Drop me a line if you might be interested. I'd love to get to know a couple like-minded bass players in the area and we could feed each other gigs, share info, whatever.
