Looking for a bass teacher in Ottawa!

Sign in to disble this ad
So, my teacher of almost 3 years is moving and I'm now in need of a new bass teacher! I've been playing for 5 years on electric bass, and am looking at starting double bass in the near future, so a teacher who could double on both would be great, but isn't a must.

A teacher who could help with my lack of jazz knowledge, interpreting various classical pieces for bass, my technique and playing in general, ear training, theory and anything else music/bass related would be best!

If any of you TBers know of any teachers in Ottawa, or are teachers in Ottawa, I'm open to any suggestions! Also, sorry if this is in the wrong forum ... I have seen other LF Teacher ads here though, so I thought this would be the place to post. Thanks!

Good luck lol

I've been on this search for a while now...

I know there's Tom McMahon - Tom McMahon - Ottawa / Gatineau-based musician - jazz pop rock bass and balsiset player.

I've seen him live at a corporate event playing christmas tunes on his Basilet (11 string tapping thing, kinda like a chapman stick). He also does upright. I'm probably going to get lessons from him closer to the fall. He's out in Alymer.

And Ross Taylor - Bass Guitar & Upright Bass Lessons - Ottawa & Region
Can't comment on him, just know he's around. He lives in Carleton Place.

Let me know if you come up with anything!

Again, good luck lol

Thanks, I sent Tom an email, I'll see what he sends back! Hope he can cover the classical thing, that seems to be the trick with a lot of the teachers I've found here in Ottawa.

Hey bro,

how'd it work out with Tom?

With fall coming meaning decreased motorcycle time I'm thinking of picking up some lessons.

Cheers & keep on groovin'
