North Denver Horn Funk Gig Opportunity

Horn Funk Gig Opportunity

Hey guys - I've been subbing for a working, gigging horn funk band for the past few months. There's a rhythm section, trumpet, trombone, alto, and sometimes a tenor player. They rehearse in Erie and tend to play in the north suburbs, Lafayette, and Longmont.

I'm getting the sense that the guy I have been subbing for isn't coming back. Unfortunately I live in Castle Rock and the commutes to these guys' events isn't sustainable for me. I had a 120 mile round trip commute to rehearsal last night!

The book is pretty typical '70s horn funk. Easy, not a lot of chord changes, fun for a bass payer, and if you've played in a band like that before you may find that you know a lot of it already.

Most of the guys are National Guard players; very professional and competent. Very good guys. They play 2-3 times a month right now.

More info about the band at Makeshift Funk Band.

Please PM me if you are interested in learning more about the gig.

It's Friday, June 10th right now - we are playing at Dillinger's in Lafayette tonight. Stop by if you want to check it out in person.

Not sure I'd jump to that conclusion just yet. There could be plenty of interest, but the right person who also happens to be somewhat close to there needs to come across the ad.

You think 120 miles is a lot, pfft, how about 1,683 miles! It would take me 1 day, 3 hours nonstop to drive to the audition, LOL!

Yeah, the gig probably isn't for you.

Sounds like a great gig, but the commute from San Diego would kill me!

At this point the band has found at least one candidate for the permanent seat.

But I got absolutely no interest on this board - I was a little surprised.
