I'm an undisciplined hack working on improving my habits, knowlege, and of course, my playing. My immediate goals are to improve my timing and technique, both finger style and picking. I'm also looking for arco technique instruction as well since I recently picked up an NS electric bass cello.
Bottom line is I want to concentrate on mechanics to start off with and then move on to more esoteric aspects of music (I just finished Victor Wooten's book and thoroughly enjoyed it but I need more nuts and bolts improvement right now).
Thanks for any suggestions/leads/introductions.

I highly recommend a client of mine, Marc Miller. He's in the Kirkland area, and you will find none better in the Seattle area. Marc is a seasoned pro who has a Masters (Berklee?) in Upright Bass (he's a killer arco and pizz player), and can tear up a 4/5/6 fretted/fretless on par with the greats.
When you drop him a note, be sure to let him know that I passed you his info - he's quite booked, so this could make the difference between availability and wait list. I receive no compensation for this referral marc@prezbass.com (addy corrected)
all the best,
Rod

I do have several other friends who have, and all note that Marc looks to find what works best for each student. All of the people who have taken lessons have made HUGE improvements in their playing and approach
all the best,

| | | I've been playing bass for over 20 years and finally decided to start taking some lessons to see what I've missed along the way.
I highly recommend Andy Z http://www.andyzmusic.com . He's based out of Seattle and is an awesome player and a really down to earth instructor. I've learned so much in the last 6 months of instruction. I just wish I would have started years ago.
My focus is on Electric Bass, but he has many upright students as well. I also know that he currently has at least one other student with an NS Cello. I don't think you would be disappointed with Andy.
Let me know if you need any other info about Andy.
