Not that I have the chops for this or am worthy of being on stage with Vai, but Why was this not posted sooner? For those who might be interested?

This was posted on his site April 26th, quit bitchin and get your chops together and nail the audition! (it would seem that this kind of info deserves thanks rather than 'why didn't you....')

Now, if I could become Billy Sheehan overnight and afford that plane ticket to LA... This will be a killer gig for somebody.

I'm not worthy........but you are Jason. I've got some decent fiddle chops, but not like that; that's in the ionosphere.

Well, you quoted it, so I am not sure if reading issues are present as well.

But just in case I am wrong, why did you feel the need to dig into the original poster? Seing as how a) the auditions haven't happened yet, b) you aren't going.

I sent then an email, jic.

"Thanks for your inquiry.

Open Auditions will be taking place at Mates in North Hollywood between 5pm and 8pm Wednesday May 2nd, and Thursday May 3rd. The address is copied below.

Mates
5412 Cleon Ave.
North Hollywood, CA 91601
818.762.2661

Please learn the bass pieces provided on the auditions info page:
<http://www.vai.com/tour2007/opencall/>. Amplifiers will be provided.

Please be aware that we're expecting a large turn out to these open auditions, and may not get to see everyone play, depending on time constraints.

Best regards,

Mike

What do you mean dig into the original poster.....I simply saw the post and commented on it.....When I saw auditions and Vai in the same sentence I wanted to get some more info on it...I did not think about going to his site to get all the info.....Why do you feel the need to dig into what I post?

Playing with Steve and Jeremy last night was a blast. Steve was very factual in saying that "It takes about 1,000 cows to make one hamburger!"

Steve looked at me and said, "OK, can you play over this in 13/8, in A Lydian? I am subdividing this in 12-12-123/12-12-12. Go."

And so, we did. Jeremy, Steve, myself, and some genius Screetch-looking 18 year old guitar phenom from Pittsburgh.

Special thanks to all of the MySpacers and that dude from Belgium that told me about the auditions a only day ahead of time!!

Back to writing string quartets scored for bass/drums and "prepared Eventide" string quartet.................
