Greetings fellow T.O. Based (bassed?) bassists. I've got a gig for someone. See I'm filling in as a hired gun till they can locate a full timer. So here's the skinny, they're doing covers. Ya ya, I know, eeek, oh DAMN, run Forest run, Set Defcon 1 and all that jazz, so they've an eye towards capitalizing on the bar scene that wants that offering.
They're 2 guitars and drums as of right now. The frontman covers rhythm and is a dammed good vocalist. He's nuts, as are they all, but in a driven to succeed kind of way, mostly. He's got that 'thing' where you know in a live environment it won't be long till he's gone pants optional and swinging from the chandeliers. Look at the end of the day you either entertain the audience and make money, or starve for artistic merit. They want the show, and the cash. Which means there's going to be compromise.................
The lead player is so layed back he's vertical, ego in a shoebox somewhere under a bed collecting dust bunnies, he's damned good and a stickler for proper chord changes etc, which someone ALWAYS has to monitor.
And the drummer actually has a job, transportation, a watch and the ability to read it, can tie his own shoes, and only drools when appropriate, absorbs tunes like a sponge, plus he really can play, as can they all.
They want to work in a team environment, so everyone's opinions matter. They're starting with the vocalists strong point of late 80's and up alternative, and will carefully select and augment the list from there. As a point of order if you live and die by the "Mighty Q " this isn't for you. No really, there's no lather, rinse, repeat classic rock formula here. Now or ever for that matter
This is a get in on a ground level band opportunity that shows huge upside.
Now you, transport, gear, dedication and skills are a must. This doesn't mean that if you ride the Red Rocket and rent gear don't bother. If you make it work then great, that's the dedication part shining on through. Skills, well you can't wiff here. STP is on the list, and those lines tend to be weird, not impossible, just strange sometimes. Also the Headstones: Unsound is on that list, whole lot of fun to play and keeps you occupied for the whole tune. But by no means a beginners piece.
Interested? PM me for details beyond what's here and I'll set you up......
