7th chords 2 octaves

can somone one help me figure this out? i only have the single arrpegios

double octave arrpegios would also be so helpful if you could give me a hand.

do you mean the colour tones?
for example, C maj7

C - E - G - B are 1 - 3 - 5 - 7

and the colour tones are

D - F# - A are 9 - #11 - 13

He might mean playing the octave of the 3rd while playing the root note and 7th as per usual, kind of like a double stop.

so C maj7 with the octave of the 3rd would be

C - B - E octave i.e. 1 - 7 - 10

EDIT: Sorry jazzcrime, after re-reading the original post I think you are actually right. It appears the OP is asking how to continue playing the arpeggio of a chord past the 7th... to the OP, keep going with the odd notes.

even though this isn't a theory forum - thought i'd paste what i pm'd to the op who pm'd me after my reply on here. might be of some use to someone here.

there are a whole bunch of positions and patterns you can use to play this - and it's really upto you however these are the intervals that each arpeggio is built from and it'll serve you well in finding the best way for you to play it.

as for whole half diminshed scales they go like this:
1 2 b3 4 b5 b6 bb7 7 1
eg in C:
C D Eb F Gb Ab A B

hope this is of some help!

ps. colour tones are the upper extensions of chords. they are the 9th, 11th and 13th (basically the same as the 2nd, 4th and 6th which are skipped in the basic arpeggios of chords). depending on what kind of quality you want the chord to have these can be sharped or flatted or kept natural. different chords have their own natural extensions, which are the most consonant upper extensions of those chords, and can have their extensions altered to create more dissonant sounds.

I actually had no idea what the post meant when I read it, so I hope it's sorted itself out....

if not, a better explanation of the question will be needed for me to tackle it successfully.
