Hey I'm Nick and have been playing bass for two years now and just joined talkbass.
I know this is a weird question, but I was about to buy one of this awesome bass player hats to wear when I play with my band and at gigs, but I did't want to come across as one of those wanabie bassists.
So my question for any experienced bassists out there is, Is how good of a bass player do you need to be to wear a hat while playing? is their any unspoken skill requirements needed before you can wear one without looking like a wanabie?
All wise bass player advice is appreciated,
Nick

I'm trying to get away from them now cos I think all my hair is going to fall out if I keep wearing them. I'm more into haircuts than hats these days.... Hadrian is still young so he's got a while before his hair starts falling out, and tony is the pioneer of the look so I think he'll keep at it!
Easy,
Janek |

| | | I wore one on my first gig, and pretty much every other gig since.
When you go out and and play, always act like you're Marcus Miller or somebody. You'll have heaps of fun, and people soon get the idea.
The wearer makes the hat, rather than the other way round. Wear it with pride.
And sunglasses too, if the occasion fits.
Cheers

| If you're playing an outdoor gig on a sunny day or playing a venue with bright stage lights, I can understand. Or if you think Vanilla Ice was the bomb in "Cool as Ice"

Nick | That probably explains my affection for an old fedora and a tendency to wear "cat" hats....BTW, we need a "smile" with a hat
