To Berklee or not to Berklee

Hi janek I am very interested in talking with you about your experience in Berklee and as a Producer. About me, i would like to tell you that I´m studying at an ex-berklee network school in Buenos Aires, where im geting some lessons on arrangements and harmony.
The thing is that I want to be a sesion musician and/or producer. I read one of your threads talking about how difficult it is for newbies to become succesfull in session playing.
Do you think I should make the effort on going to berklee USA?
Is it worth the money?

I think that berklee is worth the time and money for the network of people that exist there. They have some of the greatest facilities in the world for learning the technology side of being a producer, and some of the greatest teachers as far as experience and knowledge go. It's not cheap, and it's a tougher place to get into now with the new management, but I do think it's worth it.

Just ask yourself what you want out of music, and then see if you think anything I've written about berklee will help you get there.

to be any kind of producer or player you need to be around some sort of scene at some point in your life. Berklee for education in a school and NYC for education on the streets are a grea combination, and have worked very well for me. I'm not familiar with the local scene in Argentina, but you might also find that once you've been in the US for a while you could go back home and make a lot of money from music with the experiences you pick up in the States.

It´s quite like i´ve been thinking. I mean, my main objective in music as in life is to go as far as I can... so I guess berklee could be a good experience...
Maby I should wait and finish the school in BsAs and then give it another thought
