Bi-amping a standard cabinet

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a GK 700RB and am rewiring a Peavey 410 cabinet for bi-amping. I have it functioning as expected, but am going direct from output to speakers with no crossover or filtering. My question is if this is the best wiring strategy for bi-amping and should I put some type of noise filtering in line, especially for the horn.

If you want to separate the drivers by frequency, you need a crossover and that should go ahead of the power amp if you don't want to lose output due to the insertion loss that occurs with a passive crossover. If you're sending full range signal to the speakers, you don't need a crossover but you do need to install a jack for each speaker pair and separate each pairs' wiring from the other.
