Hope this clarifies some of my posts.

Roy,

I know you and Jauqo weren't making fun of Tony. Infact if it wasn't for guys like you and Jauqo, I wouldn't be as educated as to the history of the bass, which is something I enjoy.

I do however detect others as being disrespectful at a minimum to another player, and frankly I don't understand why. The only viable reason I can suggest would be jealousy.

Jauqo/Roy thanks for the info.

God Bless, Ray

Because it's just too inconceivable that they are simply being honest in their opinion of what they're hearing?

I don't have to check the man's CV to form an opinion of what he's playing in that vid. In fact, that would be intellectually dishonest of me.

Seems like two guys messing around, having a good time at a guitar show, I don't see the problem.

If I was to guess, I'd say he's used to higher action.

EDIT: And most important of all, Mr. Dickens seems to be really enjoying it. Nor should we forget that the audio quality of vid cams are crappy to begin with, never mind Youtubes compression.

I obviously know way too much about this, but the guy is hilarious when he rants about Howard not giving him a million dollars to do his 1-hour show on Sirius so I dig him and hope he never takes his meds

Anyway, you were right...the pocket doesn't lie. I thoroughly enjoyed Tony's promo vid and would love to book him down in Florida for a show...too bad I have no venue or money to offer him
No, it's some guy from Montreal.....same deal-I would de-Friend him because he's SOOOO weird, but he's too entertaining...
It's so funny, you can tell Tony absolutely knows what he's doing 10 seconds into hearing him with the band. I'd hesitate to think what some of the Youtube gymnast bassists would sound like if they were trying to make a band groove.
Lest anyone think I'm some Cranky Old Guy who can't play any of the new stuff so I pick at it, I was the transcriptionist for the Steve Bailey/Victor Wooten Bass Extremes book. Those guys are both good friends and I thoroughly get what they are talking about. It's no secret that one of their faves and a constant Bass and Nature Camp teacher is Chuck Rainey, who is cut from the same cloth as Tony, just from New York.
Groove is the default coin of the realm if you play bass, IMHO.

Just in case...

...y'all didn't take the time to check out Roy's background, you SHOULD.

Dude is THE MAN. Period.

I wish Greensboro weren't 8+ hours from Nashvegas, or I'd be over takin' lessons from the cat every week.

His words here are dead on the money.

Roy, hope all's well out your way man, been far too long since I had the chance to catch up with you....be well.

Thanks, Gard. If you're out at Anaheim with Roscoe we'll have to catch up. I'm doing a concert on the Wednesday before the NAMM opens on the 13th at one of the Hotel venues-I'll let you know which one when I find out.
Someday soon we'll have to talk about that Roscoe 7 string

Roy, man what a bummer, but we're not doing NAMM this year. Wish I could be there man!

On the 7 string, whenever you want to get something going, just call.
