Question blackwood for the body

im making a bass and i can get blackwood for free so i was wondering if it can be used to make a bass? also what kind of sound does it have?

Blackwood will make for a heavy body, unless you're going to chamber it. I couldn't tell you the "true" tone characteristics, although It may resonate just like other woods

It is not regarded as "Ebony", however it is very dense wood. Depending on the sharpness of your tools, expect chips and tearouts... it has been used to make woodwind instruments on occasion such as clarinets, oboes and Highland pipes

You could use it for a bunch of fretboards, provided they're long enough.
Also they could be used for neck stringers, provided they're long enough.
