effect pedals for Drum n Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Which effect pedals do you recommend for drum n bass?

Most DnB basslines are considerably lower than you can normally play on a bass, so I guess a octaver would make sense.
Apart from that I know that there is most of the time a LFO on a Low Pass or High Shelf Filter, which is pretty similar to what a Wah Wah does, so some sort of Auto Wah would do that.

Anything else?

I've been searching that sound for long time now... And I think i found it! Its basicly Boss OC-2 with weird settings...
Check this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFfCTxyq6Uo
And wait until he puts OC-2 on for first time! THERE IT IS!
Maybe add some chorus or something... Im now hunting OC-2 for myself, got to get one

I have used lots of different pedals over the past few years. I still always tend to use a boss octave pedal, and a low pass filter. And then everything else is just colour. Choruses, distortions, filters, EQ's, phasers.... you really just have to use your ear and be creative with the music. Trying lots of different pedals will tell you what you need for whatever the music is that you're playing.

Easy,

Janek

Can you recommend any low pass pedal? I can't find a wahwah that is low enough to work when I turn the octaver on

^^^ The moog mf-101 is the standard and sounds very good.

IMO an octave, a lpf, and some sort of waveshaper (distortion, Freqbox, SYB, etc) are the bare minimums. All the rest can be added to these for more color.
