hi. i have been playing the guitar for the past 4-5 years now. i mainly played rythm. i am going to buy my first bass and have a choice between a squier p bass and an ibanez gsr200. i found the p bass to be heavy and clumsy compared to the ibanez which was light and comfortable. could you please tell me which is a better bass in your opinion?

Thanks.

Probably not the best place to ask, but go with the one that feels best to you.

Both the P and the Ibanez have quite a number of fans. Go with your guts there! The best and most expensive car in the world is worth nothing if you just don't like it. Drive them all!

(Try to get a more experienced friend along so you can trust he'll spot any major flaws in the instrument)

Smile

i myself started on an epiphone eb0 bass, but didn't really get into music until i saved up and bought me a fender american p-bass. i loved that bass, and still play it primarily, but also have had the chance to own and play a gsr 200. i myself think that it would have been a better bass to start off on compared to the p-bass, and no doubt kills the epi!!!! plus 1000+ for an american p-bass, or about $150-200 for a gsr 200. which one would you choose. also, the neck on the gsr 200 was to die for, since it was satin. ( i actually ended up lightly sanding down by p-bass's gloss neck after playing the gsr 200) i actually got my gsr 200 for free from guitar center for buying a markbass little mark II, which i was going to buy anyway, so YAY, free bass. XP try to get a deal like that, and you are GOLDEN!!!!! XPPPPP

For your first bass.. I'd keep looking around..

Find something that basically feels good.. then pop $30-40 to have it setup

I have other suggestions.. your test driving is the most important right now.
