Hal crook

Hey janek!!! I remember you suggesting Hal Crook's books for improvisation practice...since then I've checked him out and I'm really happy with the results I'm getting...could you share with us your experience with his stuff?!?!? thanks!!!

well I think the biggest thing about hal was that you couldn't BS him. His ears are so tuned to everything that's going on, and his concepts so powerful that it wasn't a situation where you wanted to goof off, slack, or not pay attention. I learnt more from him than anyone else at Berklee, it was worth going there for the little amount of time that I did just for his input into my musical life.

I also got the chance to play in his band on several occasions too which was an even bigger eye opener. I think the things I took away from there and still refer to at all times now are being open and listening to those people that I'm playing with.
