Hey Janek

Thanks for all the good stuff on the forum, and for some great music on your cd's

I read that you used Hanon exercises for boosting you technique. And mentioned something about eights in tempo 400 (OMG!! thats fast).
I just started using the first two of the exercises and would love to see how you applied them to the bass.

So a humble request: Could you put a couple of them on youtube when you get a spare moment. I think some of us would love to see that.

Thx

I'll try and post some stuff in the next week or so. I'm working on another podcast so maybe I'll just put some examples in there....

the hanon is just something I've used since I started playing the bass as an exercise book for technique.

I still use some of the things from time to time, but I'm actually trying to come up with new exercises every time I practice to keep shedding interesting and musical. And also to be making exercises that pertain to what I'm actually trying to put into my musical language. Hanon exercises are great, but after a while you really know how to play all of them very well so they are doing a limited amount of ground breaking for you, and are more like a maintenance situation.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all about maintenance and keeping everything in shape, but I'm really trying to push the boundaries of the music and of the instrument so I want things that are going to push my ability to the next level.

Easy,

Janek
