As a bandleader/producer whats your concept of locking with the drums ?

I think listening is the most important part of either locking with the drums or being able to play off them. Being responsible for your own time is hugely important too, and not making the drums something to lean on. Also picking great drummers to play with is essential for me. I love to work with the guys I choose to, so that makes all the difference in joy when we come to be in the studio or on the bandstand together.
