Hissing noise

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Janek,
I've just got hold of a 5 year old Clover Apeiron H4 which is in excellent condition.
I'm getting a hissing noise after playing for a while i.e more than 1 hour.
I've cabled the bass as follows;
Bass into a Sansamp RB1
From RB1 thru a rackmounted tuner to a dbx166xl compressor/gate.
From dbx to effect pedals and finally into the power amp.
As I'm just practising, I'm standing looking at the rig.
The hissing noise occurs in both passive and active mode however, it goes when I:
- turn away from the amp at an angle of 45degrees or
- I turn the treble pot on the bass all the way back.
The pot crackles a little when I turn it.
Is the problem either:
- due to the fact that I'm standing directly opposite the rig or
- the bass is not earthing properly or
- a problem with electronic (I understand the bass also has a 2nd battery which feeds the pots/ Delano Hybrid PU)
The hissing is still there if I bypass everything and go direct the power amp so I'm guessing it's something to do with the bass.
Sorry for the long email.
Hope you can help.
Kind regards fron Germany
Marc

Fyi, you might have better luck with the pu and electronics or the amp forum. Janek is not a gearhead....
