How do you know when your ready ?

Hey Janek , I've been playing the bass for about 2 years now and I really want to take my playing further then my house . My sister who sings in a band says " get out there and play with somebody" but I just dont feel that I'm ready. She even said I should come to her bands rehearsal , but since this is a popular band I grew up listening to ,that idea felt kind of akward . I just dont know if I'm ready , I mean I do pretty good practicing ,but performing ... I dont know . I'm 32 and I didn't grow up playing in church or around alot of musicians . I dibed and dabed in music most of my life with most of the time spent on beatmaking and a little deejaying . I come from a hip hop perspective. I say that to say I dont have the typical "musicians" lingo . Most of the people I hung out with were average joes / street dudes or women who didn't know to much about making music . I want to break into that world some sort of way though . To add to that I'm a introvert so just getting out there and meeting people can be a task sometimes . Got any suggestions .

If you feel that you want to do more, then you are ready!

Try finding someone you share musical interests with and who is also interested in doing music with you. Maybe an add on a forum or somewhere local. I'm sure there are many people out there who feel the same way you do and would be pleased to get together with you to make some music
