Hi , I played drums for an year, developed interest in electric Bass guitars, so bought myself a bass- but since i have no prior experience in guitars or related instruments, I dont know how to start off learning?

Is it that I should first learn Notes, then chords, then scales, then Arpegios and then I will be able to play songs?

Can you please help me? as in what stuff I should go about learning? I REALLY WANT TO BE A GOOD BASSIST

Taking lessons would be your best bet.... instead of buying a bunch of gear, put that money towards lessons, you won't regret it!!!!

Learning the notes on the fretboard would be one of the first things you do. But don't panic - learn the notes closer to the head of the bass, where the lower notes are located. I included a fretboard diagram that I included.

EDIT: I included the image, but the upload downsized it. PM me if you want a bigger image you can print and tape to your wall when practicing.

Learning the fundamentals of the instrument in the beginning is a great idea. Getting a basic command of the instrument and then looking at different things in music that you enjoy.

I have some lessons for beginners on my video lesson website:

http://janekgwizdala.com/videolessons/

you can see previews of the scale and arpeggio lessons here:

http://janekgwizdala.com/videolesson...-major-scales/

http://janekgwizdala.com/videolesson...ajor-arpeggio/

and there are previews of every lesson on the site so you can check it out and see if it might work for you.

Either way, I suggest you keep an open mind, check out music you really like, be inspired by great music and musicians and most importantly, HAVE FUN!

Janek
