im new to playing 4 string bass. this has been my first week and i really dont know what to practise or what songs to learn. could you help please?

well you should start with some things that you like to listen to.
who are you checking out? what albums do you really dig? who do you listen to on the radio?
Trust your ear, take is slow at first, and don't worry about things taking time to work out.
Having a good sound, and being able to play in time are probably the most important things you can be thinking about right now.
