Janek! I know you're coming to australia (next month) to do some shows, but the one your doing in sydney should be really awesome!
At the basement. The problem is.. Im under 18 until Dec 12.
Is there by any chance your doing another show at sydney that isnt 18+? If you arent.. you should! im so there!

I'm 16 and bought a ticket. On the Thump Music website I swore it used to say that under 18's must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, but they might have taken it off.

Although I am going to be there with my bass teacher, Hugh Fraser, who says it should be fine.

but also, if you check it out from moshtix, it says that "patrons need to be over 18" :S
are you 100% sure about it? I couldnt find the under 18 thing on thump music.

heres the site. http://www.moshtix.com.au/Event.aspx...&skin=&ref=CAL

Yeh, I saw that last night looking for the quote of Thump Music. That leaves me a bit worried, although I'm hoping it works.

That's the one thing I don't like about the Basement, and some other jazz clubs that won't let underage in even if they're under supervision. It's an educational experience, as well as a motivation to continue with our art. Really frustrating when you get kicked out.

hey guys,

I'm going to talk to thump music about this and find out if that's an australian licensing law with alcohol being sold there, or if it's some policy of the basement. If it's just a policy of the Basement then I'm going to try my hardest to cut through that and open it all up so everyone can come.

Easy,

Janek

Now lets just hope that it works!

And also Jaydin, if you find a solution, let us know as well if you don't mind haha.

it looks like the only solution at the basement is to have dinner there too..... I'm not quite sure what all that's about, but it seems they're rather strict about that. I would go down there with an accompanying adult and just wing it if I were you. You might have to eat a burger or something, but I think it'll work to get in.

Easy,

Janek

Janek, that really is it. The Basement are notorious for being extremely strict with underage patrons, I recall a friend telling me that if the band knew you, they would let you in.

I mean you could even set up a system with a bright coloured tag or sticker would identify children or something. If a child was found without their tag on, then they would be kicked out.

Sorry Elykoko, I don't really have a plan, I'm going there with an adult and enough money to buy a burger, if necessary.

Hey guys, there's generally 2 bouncers on the door, and they usually check ID and any bags you're carrying. If you get there around 5 or 6 the only people there are normally the band soundchecking and some bar staff. That might be a possibility *maybe*. Walk in like you're supposed to be there.

I'd take Janek's advice, the food isn't too expensive and generally pretty good quality

Getting dinner there is a good plan, I think you may have to book that in advance. The tabled area is right in front of the stage so you are guaranteed to have one of the best seats. If you show up right after doors open and head straight to the table with a parent/guardian you should be fine. I think I have been in there underage when I used to sell merchandise for a job, you could try hooking up something there also. Good luck!

Jon from thump said, that if you book a table to have dinner at that it is fine. I am 16 but this is not my first 18+ show so my experience is if you with a parent or someone 18+ you can get in, even if they check at the door just say your age and your with them and it is usually fine. I personally called the basement and booked a table and cleared everything up so it is fine, you just need to book a table and get the ticket through the basement rather then thump.

btw really looking forward to my lesson with you
