Great podcast. I was expecting a collection of tracks, which would have been great, but wound up getting some cool tracks and a bass lesson. Thank you so much for sharing.

Wow! I just checked out some of Podcast #2. This is some really great stuff, Janek and thanks for your generosity in posting these. I actually have a Pat Metheny solo transcription (Nothing Personal) on my music stand right now, so I'd better get to practicing!

I have been reading this forum since its creation, and although i've haven't posted much, i have found it to be extremely inspiring.

The podcasts are great, and i know i am learning lots of stuff as someone who is thinking more and more about playing bass professionally.

I know it's important to develop your own sound, and have your own voice, and everything, but i am extremely tempted to tune my bass EADGC in order to try to practice some of the things you play.

I am also amazed at the bass' community these days, this along with Vic and Steve's bass vault are just amazing things to have for young bassists like me.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the work you put into this, it keeps me practicing.

sorry it's been a while with the 4th episode of the podcast series. I've been in the studio in NYC, then left straight for Austin. I've been here for the past week rehearsing and working with 4 new artists, and will play 5 shows next week at the south by south west festival here.

In the last episode I mentioned an audition for Warner Brothers artists peter Cincotti. I actually got the gig and am playing the first show with him tonight with no rehearsals. So it's been nuts learning all this music for him and the other 4 artists, hence the lack of a 4th episode.

I'm on it though!!

I have a record date tomorrow in dripping springs, but should be able to record a new cast on monday before the week starts getting crazy again.

Easy,

Janek

thanks janek for taking time out of your busy schedule to record these podcasts

just curious though, how did you record your bass? it has a very nice acoustic-like sound to it which sounds a bit different from what i've heard in your other clips/vids

Janek,

I just finished downloading the podcasts and I've listened to the first one. Thanks a lot for doing this for the community and for all the information in the forum.

Just came across this the other day, and so far I've only made it thru the first and part of the second. I really like what you're doing! I'm going to vote in favor of not talking about equipment unless it's specific to the topic about the music you're discussing. As a long time bass player, it's good to be reminded that there's more to listen to than just locking with the drummer. Obviously this is important, but what you play can add to (or subtract from) the overall sound of the band. Thanks for doing this.

Hey Janek!

I'm sure you're busy as a bee but I've learnt loads from the 4 podcasts you've put out already and i'm hankering for another fix any idea when it's gonna be?

Cheers,

Tom

Tom,

It's been a while since I had a break in the schedule long enough to record another episode. I'm in LA right now and will have a couple of days this coming week, so maybe I'll get to recording one and posting it then.

Glad you guys can get something out of it.

Easy,

Janek
